In response to Bren regarding my previous posting:
Information on smartphones is stored in flash memory and some data can be stored on a memory card. For the memory card, simply remove it from the phone. However, to delete flash memory data, perform a ‘hard reset,’ which returns the hardware to original factory condition. Remember to always double check text messages, email, call log, and contacts once the factory reset is done (I’ve personally ran into a few phones where not all of these items are deleted with a factory reset).
ReCellular cell phone recycling service provides instructions on many brand and model devices, to perform factory resets.
Note: Model number of many cell phones can be found under the battery.
